Last weekend, we had a few of our friends over for a turkey dinner. A few of us had plans to go skiing the next day so our friends, T & I decided to spend the night at our place so we can get an early start in the morning to the ski hill! We ended up staying up way too late and sleeping in, so that plan was kiboshed and we ended up going to St. Dames. St. Dames is a nearby restaurant that is vegetarian, which is perfect since T is a vegetarian. I have heard nothing but great things about it, so this was a perfect time to try it out.
This is what our breakfast looked like:
S had this and seemed pretty pleased with his decision.
I had the grilled cheese and it was good! The bread was extra crispy, which I don’t usually like, but this one was good. I’m not big on potatoes at the best of time, so the roasted yukons were fine.
My friend, “I”, had the burrito. She said she really liked it, but ended up taking about 75% of it home. Maybe she wasn’t that hungry?
T had the scramble of the day. He seemed to really enjoy it. It looked fantastic.
The tea smelled delicious and the coffee was really good. It was great – they gave us brown sugar and soy milk. Perfect for those who are lactose intolerant, like myself!

Personal Rating: 3 out of 5 ( Good)
We don’t usually go for vegetarian (and by ‘don’t usually’ I mean ‘never’), so I don’t have a lot to compare to. The food was good and the one vegetarian we had at the table said that his food was great and he was puzzled as to how he didn’t know of this place beforehand. I will take his word for it when he says it was a good restaurant. After all, I just had a grilled cheese sandwich! Perhaps my rating is a little low, but I think I need meat to bump up the score. Vegetarian can only be so good for a carnivore such as myself. I’m sure T would have rated it higher, so I would suggest anyone to come and try out St. Dames, especially you vegetarians!
St. Dames was very eco conscious. They would reuse the same dishes if we were asking for more soy milk or cream or sugar which was nice. Their to go packages were compostable, which isn’t unusual for Seattle, but something to note.
The service was really great, they were really friendly. Try it out and let me know!
