Branzino, Seattle, WA

A few months ago, S and I went on a food tour. We received the food tour as one of our wedding gifts, and let me tell you, it was so much fun! We ended up having a really great group of people and even walked away with a couple of new friends. We were able to hit a bunch of new restaurants that we had never been to, and learned a few little foodie tid bits along the way. One of the restaurants we went to was Branzino. We were so impressed with the food that we had on the food tour, we wanted to go back. Check it out!

For some reason we didn’t get an appetizer this time. Not too sure why, but we almost always do. Instead we started off with bread and some beverages:

The bread was nice and fluffy and served warm which is how bread should be served in my opinion! It makes it that much yummier.

Here are our entrees:

Farfalle with Rabbit Sugo, Chanterelles and Truffle Butter

I ordered the farfalle and it was delicious. The pasta is handmade in the restaurant and it was so savory and good. I can’t remember the last time I had rabbit, or even if I had even had it before, but it was tender and delightful. The truffle butter was not very prominent, which was a little disappointing, but I know it contributed to the overall dish which was great. I really enjoyed this dish, and would go back for it again. The portion size isn’t that big, but it’s a reasonable size. Had we of ordered an appetizer, it would have been perfect. Although I enjoyed this dish, I ended up eating half and switching S for his:

"Mad Hatter" Fall Chicken with Chanterelles and Sweet Potato Gnocchi

Often when S and I go out to eat, we will order different entrees and then switch half way in between. I like to switch it up and taste everything. This chicken was DELICIOUS. As I am writing this post, I am starting to crave it and salivate over it. I absolutely loved it and I’m not a big chicken person! The skin was perfectly crispy and all the flavors and the gravy complimented each other in such a nice manner. Then the gnocchi was great as well! It was sweet potato gnocchi, which was handmade and seasonal. I am picky about all my pastas, including gnocchi, but this was top notch. Loved it.

Cheesecake with Grapefruit and Oranges

We opted for the cheesecake for dessert and it was good. Pretty standard but still delicious. They had candied orange peel bits on the top which were pretty tasty. They make the cheesecake in house as well, including the crust!

The Damage

Total Damage: $72.27 (with tax and no tip)

Personal Rating: 4 out of 5 (Very Good)

I probably wouldn’t order the cheesecake again, but I would like to try some of their appetizers. The entrees were really great! We usually don’t order drinks, as I’m not much of a drinker, so that drove up out bill. The entrees at $21 and $24 were very reasonably priced though. We would definitely come back here again, and think it would be a great place to bring our out of town visitors. The service was great, our server was very attentive and very friendly. I can’t wait to go back!
