Mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm. I love dumplings. You know what are better than dumplings? SOUP FILLED dumplings! Specifically ones from Din Tai Fung (S and I refer to it as “DTF”).
We first went to DTF while traveling in Singapore two years ago. While reminiscing about it one time in front of Miss Edda, she informed us that there was one in Bellevue. We went shortly after, and have been frequenting it ever since. It’s one of our favorite places to take newbies/visitors.
This is a pretty regular meal for us:
Seaweed salad to start – Beansprouts, seaweed, bean curd in a deliciously succulent sauce. My only wish is that it was 5 times bigger.
Soup filled shrimp and pork dumplings. Simply delicious.
Their signature and classic juicy pork dumplings. Filled with soup. A favorite among many. (They were sold out of my favorite dumpling when we went. It’s called “Shrimp and Pork shao mai”.)
Here is the sauce I have concocted for my delicious little dumplings. Approximately 4 parts vinegar, 1 part soy sauce, and 4 scoops of chili sauce. It perfectly compliments the dumplings!
Rice cakes with pork. Chewy and delicious. It’s not your typical noodle dish, it’s BETTER!
Braised beef noodle soup. Just typing it makes me salivate. S and I share this and drink every last drop of the broth. It’s that savory. I could eat this everyday.
So what’s the damage for this delicious meal?
Damage: $46.26 (including tax)
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (doesn’t get much better!)
Don’t mind the stain in the middle of the bill, I guess we just wanted to take some home with us!
This meal is priceless! There is almost always a wait, but you can watch the workers hand make the dumplings while waiting! (Sorry! No picture of this!) So if you are ever in the Seattle/Bellevue area, do yourself a favor and check this place out… and give me a call!!
