Hi Peeps! Was in Vancouver for my bestie’s wedding and definitely ate enough to write a substantial post on the dining scene~ Had what I felt was the best non-Chinese wedding meal at Brix; hit up the Richmond Night Market and 3 other restaurants for their best dishes!
Instead of flying into Vancouver, we thought we would try flying into Seattle and then driving to Vancouver since it was quite a delta in the price of flights (I don’t think we would ever try that again!). We got in late on my birthday and by the time we got to Vancouver it was close to 2 am!!! Luckily for me, the very first stop I wanted as my birthday meal was Church’s Chicken and there was one that’s open 24 hours!
Started Friday off with brunch at Cafe Medina w beautiful Baby A that we have not met (and of course her mommy and Cuz C).
Of course we had to have some of the famous waffles and delicious sauces: Maple Syrup, Berry Compote and Chocolate
Next stop was Uncle B’s restaurant in Richmond. He knew I was in town and graciously offered to whip up his fabulous fried chicken!!! *spoiled*
They were preparing for the Richmond Night Market and I was amazed by the uniformed dumplings that looked store bought!
2 versions of fried chicken in a span of 14 hours and then off to another fried chicken dish from – Phnom Penh! We picked up some of the favourites from Phnom Penh and brought it back to Cuz C’s
She also picked up 2 lbs of live Spot Prawns for us!! (Definitely getting the VIP treatment).
After our massive dinner, we headed off to the Richmond Night Market at about 10 ish. And of course visited Uncle B’s dim sum stall and ate some more. o_O The stall is called Poh Wah Dim Sum with a massive selection of over a dozen items at great prices! Check it out if you get a chance before it all ends in September!!!
My favourite of the night were the usuals: Siu Mai and Peanut Rice Roll
.
Way too much eating for the first full day in Vancouver. The second day was just as bad but I will leave that post for tomorrow. Till then!
