The Rotunda was an interesting choice for lunch (at least for me). Our original intent was to head over for afternoon tea but it was not available till after 2.30 pm and we were hungry by noon. So the other option was the regular lunch menu.
Eating in a department store (albeit a nice one) is strange but the place is beautiful! It was hard to get a picture that does it any justice but I tried:
Popover with Strawberry butter (Complimentary)
The popover was the main reason KY wanted to dine here. I could understand why: the butter was freaking delicious and the popover was airy, soft and delicious.
Ahi Tuna Poke $17
It was interesting to see a Hawaiian dish served on a Indian pappadan cracker but it went really well together. The tuna was seasoned well but I did note taste any truffle at all. Instead it was a little on bland side and a tad fishy. We didn’t even fish the dish.
Asian Chicken Salad $20
Pretty much an overpriced asian coleslaw. The salad was heavily dressed in a sesame dressing that was very heavy on the sesame oil. The chicken was nicely shredded tender chicken that is also soaked with dressing. Sweet, salty and a tad soggy. I am not a huge fan.
Lobster Club $28
Generous amounts of lobster that was a tad overdone so it was quite chewy. That said, it was a delicious sandwich. The lemon aioli was subtle and the idea of the club was brilliant! I liked the creamy avocado and bits of salty bacon with chunks of lobster. I didn’t care much for the greasy taro chips.

I wasn’t blown away by the food and even less so because of the premium prices. Service was good, our server was there when we needed him and otherwise absent which was fine. I am still curious about their afternoon tea and liked the place enough to probably go back and give it another shot.
